It’s a jolly good job that domestic homes do not need PAT testing carried out before anyone can use the electrical implements and gadgets in their house. When you belong to a company or orther social association where folk gather to intermingle, eat, drink, watch films, whatever, the portable electrical items have to be checked over in what’s called a PAT test – portable appliance test. Trying to get a qualified PAT tester to come out to a charity HQ to carry out this tediously unprofitable task is turning into a right old nightmare. Apparently it’s quite easy to do a short PAT course and get certified as qualified but the work doesn’t really bring in much money – whereas several hours a day on a building site, or working in offices or warehouses brings in a great deal more funding. This causes charities a huge headache, particularly if they habitually turn their kitchen over to be used for fund raising and competitive activities. Homes just need the expdertise of a proper sparky electrician!
